SAND CDBMS Helps T-Systems Substantially Reduce Operating Costs

T-Systems Multimedia Solutions GmbH (T-Systems MMS), a subsidiary of T-Systems International GmbH headquartered in Dresden, was founded in 1995 and has since developed into a successful internet and multimedia company. Among other things, T-Systems MMS uses its data warehouse system to perform statistical evaluations of T-Com online channels and affiliated e-services. Tilman Prang, Head of Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse Development at T-Systems MMS, reports that the solution previously in use was unable to keep up with growing volumes of data and increasingly complex reporting demands.

After carefully reviewing its existing system, T-Systems MMS decided to implement a three-tier architecture using the most suitable solutions for each layer. One of these was the SAND Analytics platform, which T-Systems MMS chose to use as the centralized data storage component.

>“We were able to reduce our storage demands to one third their previous size, while successfully improving overall performance. This enabled us to reduce our fixed costs for storage and backup by two-thirds.”
— Tilman Prang, Head of Development Business Intelligence/DWH at T-Systems Multimedia Solutions GmbH.
