SAND and Sun Microsystems Germany Enter into a Reseller Arrangement to Offer the SAND/DNA Product Suite on Sun Platforms
MONTREAL—July 11, 2007—SAND Technology, Inc. (OTCBB: SNDTF.OB), an international provider of intelligent information management software, announced today that Sun Microsystems Germany will resell the SAND/DNA product suite for all Sun Microsystems computing platforms. The combination of SAND/DNA running on Sun Servers with the Solaris™ Operating System (OS) enables customers to cost-effectively retain massive amounts of compressed data for extended periods and rapidly retrieve this information when needed, bringing greater operational efficiency and analytical power.
Sun and SAND have worked together on several benchmarking activities, in which their complementary architecture has demonstrated outstanding performance. In performance tests carried out at the Global Storage Center in Scotland using the Solaris 10 OS and the Sun™ Grid system, SAND achieved load speeds of greater than 1 terabyte per hour and query speeds of 2 terabytes per minute, processing 75 million rows per second on a SAND customer data set of 165 terabytes consisting of ISP web log data, CRM data, and transactional data.
“We’re pleased to have the ability to offer our customers a complete solution by having SAND/DNA installed on the Sun platforms,” said Josef Wiesbauer, Director Systems Practice Sun Microsystems Germany. “With this combination, our mutual customers, and particularly our SAP customers, will enjoy the benefits of seamless interoperability and high performance to support their business objectives.”
“Our goal has been to make SAND’s software products as widely accessible as possible,” said Linda Arens, vice president, Global Alliances and Marketing for SAND. “Given Sun’s global presence and reputation for having high-performing, scalable, cost-effective platforms, we believe this reseller arrangement will provide a compelling offering for our customers.”
