Configuring a Single-Server Octopus System

System Configuration

Octopus system configuration is set with a special set of parameters in the SAND CDBMS configuration file (nucleus.ini), which is located in the directory specified by the SUPPORT parameter in the NUCLEUS environment variable. Octopus entries in the nucleus.ini file are divided into sections that correspond to the following components of the system:

1. Octopus

2. Nodes

3. Subclasses

4. Agents

Sections for Nodes and Agents are not required when configuring Octopus for operation on a single computer. These components are discussed in the next chapter, Configuring Octopus for Multi-Server Operation.

Sample nucleus.ini file entries for Octopus are provided in Appendix A.
