If a database user has a default partition, which is configured through the ALTER AUTHORIZATION...SET DEFAULT PARTITION command, that user is said to operate in "MPP mode", and certain MPP-related SQL commands are executed in the context of that default partition.
Some SQL commands are designed for MPP mode only, and others behave differently depending on whether the session is in MPP mode or not. There are also MPP-related commands that behave the same way regardless of the mode. These commands are summarized in the following table.
