SAND/DNA Access Enhances the E-banking Experience: National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF) Uses E-banking Transaction Log Archive to Optimize Customer Service

The National Agricultural Cooperative Federation (NACF) of South Korea is a national financial institution established in 1961. Currently, over 4,000 NACF branches provide efficient financial services to customers around the country. The NACF also operates the largest electronic network system in South Korea, offering telebanking, e-banking, mobile/PDA banking, and a variety of automated services.

NACF chose to engage TopEnd Technologies, SAND Technology's South Korean Systems Integration partner, to implement an e-banking log management solution using SAND/DNA Access. This system now allows NACF to store two months of transaction data — close to a terabyte, in raw form — in a compact 50 GB archive that can be directly searched using standard SQL without decompressing the data first. Compression rates for the log data range from 85 to 95%. The archiving process is fully automated, and changes to log layout (addition or removal of fields, for example, are automatically accommodated with no additional database management requirements.

“Besides the savings on disk costs, both application development costs and operations overhead will be reduced.” - Cho Young-Mun, Manager at the e-Banking Division of NACF
