SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 offers SAP customers the ability to leverage SAP BI with greater effectiveness and better performance at all levels of the organization. In addition to a variety of extended functionality, the introduction of the “Business Intelligence Accelerator (BIA)” and the “Nearline Interface” in conjunction with the SAND/DNA partner solution have set new standards for performance and efficient management of large volumes of data.
In order to ensure that these new technologies and possibilities are used as effectively as possible, SAND Technology and its partners are pleased to offer the following support options:
A. Approach and Strategy for Nearline Implementation
- Analysis of the existing BI system using an automated analytic tool
- Analysis of the data model with respect to data volume (in gigabytes) and number of data sets per Info Provider, as well as distribution of these into individual periods per InfoProvider
- Assessment of load processes with respect to the daily Delta loading volume, as well as cumulative growth prognosis per month and year for each Info Provider
- Evaluation of whether direct access can be achieved to InfoProviders in data transfer processes, update rules or transformation rules
- Assessment of Reporting Objects, taking into consideration the use of multiple providers
- Determination of a possible evaluation scenario
- Identification of representative InfoCubes and DataStore Objects (DSO)
- Development of an implementation strategy for Initial Rollout
- Integration into daily processes (including required changes in the process chain)
- Calculation of duration for the various phases based on identified Data Objects
- Draft of a sizing approach for the infrastructure required to operate the Nearline Solution
- Initial mass archiving
- Archiving processes on a regular basis
- Presentation of the results and findings
- Overview of costs
- Estimation of usage
- Time requirements
- Required work: 3 Consultant Project Days
B. Establishment of a Test System “Sand Box”
- Installation of a test system using SAND/DNA for SAP NetWeaver BI 7.0 in the customer environment
- Execution of an evaluation scenario using a dedicated “sandbox” (test) system (by creating a copy of the system, for example)
- Execution of Data Archiving Processes (DAPs) using the selected representative InfoCubes and DataStore Objects (DSO)
- Validation of the Results and Presentation
- Compression rate
- Archiving speed
- Performance
- Training of the customer in the use of the test system, based on the SAP NLS tutorial
- Usage of the test system for a maximum of 4 weeks, excluding on-site consulting support
- Work required: 5 Consultant days
The test system may be carried over later for production use.
C. Implementation Support
- Execution of or support for the activities based on analysis from Consulting Part I and others:
- Development of the processes needed to archive data
- Implementation of archiving process chains
- Execution of initial mass archiving
- Modification / Formation of the Data Transfer Processes
- Implementation of data access via the Nearline Lookup API, if required
- Configuration of regular archiving processes
- Training of additional employees in use of the NLS Solution
- Development of customer-specific rules for independent further development of the NLS Solution
